A path to the next era of naval architecture, data-driven design.

Research Talk by Diego De Leon Wug

I will be talking about the subject of my PD: Data-driven Ship Design, covering the implementation of the new developments in computational technology, specifically data science and machine learning, for the creation of the next generation of Ship Design software. There are three factors in this transition; first, the development of new computational technologies and their inclusion in engineering, parallelling the implementation of CAD and simulations; second, the necessities of the maritime industry and specially the process of Ship Design itself, with a mention of the perception of new technologies in what has historically been a traditional industry; and third, the current challenge being tackled about the digital representation of a ship as a complex system in a way that a computer can understand.

This Research Talk will be offered in English.
